Barcelona High School - American School Barcelona

Estoy en séptimo grado, así que obviamente soy nuevo. Aunque la escuela es muy pequeña, también es muy abierta. Es muy “dejarse llevar por la corriente” y muy inclusivo. Algunas clases no son mis clases habituales y por eso me estoy acostumbrando a ellas, pero otra cosa inusual pero TAMBIÉN agradable es que son los grados 7. º a 12. º, no 6. º a 8. º y 9. º a 12. º, lo cual es genial porque puedes hacer muchos más amigos y todo alrededor es simplemente una escuela increíble.

Muchas gracias a la dirección del colegio y a los profesores por el cuidado y atención que brindan a cada niño. La escuela tiene un enfoque individual para los niños. Excelente apoyo y acompañamiento para que los niños se adapten a la escuela y a un nuevo país. Nos mudamos a España el año pasado y resultó ser mucho estrés para nuestra hija. Gracias a BHS, mi hija pasó el período de adaptación más rápido y mejoró muy bien su inglés, ¡por lo cual un agradecimiento especial a Ekaterina! Katerina ayuda a los niños de habla rusa y a otras personas a integrarse en el sistema educativo estadounidense. Trabaja individualmente con cada alumno. Recomiendo ampliamente a Katerina como tutora en inglés y español. Mi hija está muy feliz y contenta de haber terminado en BHS.

Barcelona High School ha sido excelente para mi hijo en muchos aspectos que no puedo enumerar. Lo más importante es que se sienta parte de un espacio seguro para el aprendizaje y el crecimiento. BHS ha hecho todo lo posible para asegurarse de que esté listo para los próximos pasos de su vida y lo lograron siendo innovadores y capaces de reconocer sus necesidades únicas como estudiante de alto rendimiento. Ve a la escuela y haz un recorrido, lo comprobarás por ti mismo.

We arrived in Barcelona last year, in search for an English - American school for our son for the year to come. From our very first visit to the school -that later on moved to a much better establishment - we realised that we could not find by any means a better place for our son. Congratulations to all the passionate people that started and now run this school.

During my lifetime I have been lucky enough to experience 11 very different schools in multiple countries, but nothing has ever compared to BHS. It's an amazing school with brilliant teachers, kind students, and an unmatched atmosphere. I never believed it possible for an entire school to be friends, but we genuinely feel like one big family. No matter your age, ethnicity, hobbies etc.you will feel at home at this school.
As an international school there are always people coming and going so no matter your situation, you will never be alone. I don't think that anyone will ever have to experience the "new kid" feeling as everyone walks out the door after their first day with instant friends. The students are so inclusive, as are our amazing teachers.
Before I moved here I really struggled with math and science, but with help from my teachers I didn't just improve drastically, I learned to love it. They are amazing at their jobs, but more importantly they really care about you and your ideas. One thing that I really like is how much of a voice we have in everything from our schedules, to picking which teachers to employ. Amanda always says that she works for us and anything that we want she will give us. The informal / comfortable attitude is something that we need more of in this world.
I could sit here and write an entire essay on why BHS is the best school ever, but I'll try to keep it short. I wake up every morning looking forward to school. I love my teachers, my friends and everything about my school, I would definitely recommend it.:)

During my time as a student, I've had the opportunity to attend schools across the globe, but none have compared to the exceptional experience I had at Barcelona High School (BHS). The education and support provided by the teachers truly exceeded my expectations. Unlike other schools, the teachers at BHS put their students' understanding and interests first, and went above and beyond to help me grasp the material. The school administration also takes an active role in student feedback and change, which makes it a great place to learn and grow. I felt that my time and money were well spent at BHS, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch education and supportive community.

I love this school so much, it's the best school I've ever been to and the teachers are great, every one of them is really pacient and understanding. BHS is a place where I feel safe, and I found great friends here. My mental health got so much better since I'm here and my social anxiety is almost completely gone, everyone can be who they are without getting judged here. I really love going to this school!

Amazing school! That was a really exciting experience for me to be studying and being a part of this English-speaking school. The teachers are very kind, professional, and always willing to help. I recommend this school to everyone!

We enrolled our son in BHS, mainly since he needed flexibility in his studies and hours, being a tennis player. Although he was the youngest in class, and it took him some time to adjust to the new system and friends, quite quickly he started blooming. Amanda is an amazing, attentive person, and I always felt safe to turn to her for help and advice. She understood our son and his needs very well, and always came up with creative solutions. The teachers, the atmosphere and the urban environment create together a unique school experience, and Akida makes sure to engage all the student together with interesting activities.all together our son felt happy and safe this year. Much recommended for anyone who needs something a bit different from the standard academic system!

Akida and Amanda and the rest of the staff worked elbow to elbow with my daughter and it's been so far her best shool experience. Like a family and high quality education!

As a past student at BHS (Barcelona High School), I can confidently say that my experience at this school has been overwhelmingly positive; there is a very communal atmosphere amongst both students and staff, where your needs will be met and you'll rarely feel out of place. I found that the teachers (Amanda and Ciarán) are always there for you, the courses are adaptive inorder to meet the student's needs, and Akida is always there to share a funny joke when you’re feeling down. Furthermore, there are a lot of hands-on activities, discussions, and presentations to give students their full potential when it comes to learning. I believe that this is one of the few environments in that I've truly been able to thrive in.

I am a student in BHS and I can say with certainty that this was the best decision I have ever made in terms of my academic journey. I am currently studying online and Amanda, Akida and the rest of the staff are super supporting and always attend anyone who needs help.

My son was in 9th grade at BHS while we lived in Spain, and while we chose the online option, and it was his first year doing online school, I would choose it again! Akida and the whole staff and teachers are incredibly supportive. You are joining a community that wants to see your child succeed and takes time to learn about their dreams and goals. Akida's first conversation with my son was to ask him where he wanted to go to college and truly the whole school year was setup for him to stay motivated and do exceptionally well so he can achieve that goal. They are all about learning not just teaching to a test. My son became a complete independent learner, it was amazing to see him take full responsibility for his learning, which is how college will be, so he's getting great practice already.

The support we received from Amanda, one of the teachers, was incredible, she would send personal messages checking on our son and making sure if he needed anything, as he was applying to high schools in the US. We have since moved back to the US, but he took an entrance exam for the #1 high school in California, ranked nationally 25 and he got accepted! I truly believe he did well and was prepared because of all the work he did at BHS with essay writing and math. He will be attending school in the US now but if we were still living in Spain, I would have kept him at BHS!

I used the techniques from Barcelona High School to help with writing an essay for a scholarship. And I just want to tell you Thank You for helping me on my scholarship paper. I received the presidential leadership scholarship and the money will help me out quite a bit. Im so excited to start my new journey.
