Bodega Cala del Vermut, Barcelona

An inconspicuous tapas bar in a location most would overlook. It's easy to either miss it as you walk past or ignore it if you were to look through the door as it is a small room with a very small serving counter and perhaps seating for two, but if you venture in, there is a larger, very rustic, room at the back with seating for perhaps 10.
It's often worth trying these smaller places and so we opted to stay for a couple of beers, some anchovies in olive oil and a platter of cheese.
Locals were popping in and out quite often and either stood at the counter or went and stood outside, whereas tourists, who'd obviously found it online and had made a deliberate effort to come here, sat at the back. (A very excited Chinese couple arrived and started taking photos).
The owner seemed to be working alone that night but was attentive and everything arrived quickly enough.
Anchovies were delicious and fresh and the cheese platter was generous and mixed with almonds and grape slices.
If you were to turn the lights on full, you'd realise you were sitting in a back room with crates of drinks and walls in need of some attention but with clever, low, lighting and some pictures, the ambiance was conducive for a pleasant few drinks and a bite to eat.
I don't think it is worth making a special trip to this bodega unless you are in the area but if you are in the area and fancy a glass of wine, a beer and some tapas, you might find this is the perfect place to take the weight off your feet for about an hour.

Un sitio lleno de magia, no puedes dejar de mirar todos los rincones. La calidad de las tapas, no te dejará indiferente.

Personal agradable, aunque quizás un camarero más no les iría mal sobre todo el fin de semana.
La decoración del sitio es totalmente auténtica.
Tiene una parte interior bastante acogedora.

Un sitio para hacer el vermut, de toda la vida, como los que ya no se encuentran. Buena calidad de productos, buenos vermuts. Ensaladilla casolana para chuparse los dedos y una deuda, volver a por más. Para los fans de Héroes, Bunbury pasó por aquí.

Una gran familia es este local. Nos encantó desde el primer momento. La comida es espectacular y el vermouth es de los mejores, simplemente bueno. Recomiendo a todo el mundo!

House marinated sardines and olives with cold white wine were just divine. A bartender was really nice. Of all the places we ate in Barcelona, this little bar is the one I keep longing to go back.

Sitio de toda la vida, Juan un camarero majísimo que nos hizo disfrutar de un buen aperitivo. Vermut riquísimo.

Ambiente súper agradable al lado de la catedral, buen vermut, recomendación acompañar con las Gildas!

Vermutería con surtidos de embutidos y combinamos de lata impresionantes! No es barato, tampoco caro, pero la materia prima es increíble. Muy recomendable!

Banderillas, tapas y raciones de calidad, en el centro de Barcelona, no apto para giris! Volveré y recomendaré.

Esta bodega es un clásico de toda la vida! Vayas donde vayas a comer…Se precia ir allí a tomar el aperitivo antes de ir a comer.
Tienen unas anchoas y unos boquerones que no te puedes perder! Las gildas están también espectaculares! Y por supuesto a destacar su salmón y sus raciones de lata o ahumados!
Es un local para tomarse un aperitivo de pie, ya que casi no tiene mesas para sentarse y es un local bastante pequeño.
No te lo pierdas para tomar un aperitivo si vas a comer por la zona!
