THE most racist restaurant I’ve ever been to. Reserved a dinner here after some reviewers said this was one of the best places to get authentic paella and oh boy they were so wrong. Everything was so disappointing, underdone food, no socrat, prawns were just thrown in the pan as is without cleaning and bought on a plate -zero seasoning, not even salt! Heavily overpriced menu and rude staff.all of them! To top it all off we had this weird old lady looking at us non stop from the kitchen making a crooked face while we tried to eat… Appalling… Do not go if you are young traveler or people of colour - go to La Boqueria in the gothic quarters, they will treat you like family, feed you the best good and even offer limoncello on the house as you finish

AWFUL! (This is also my first review ever, but needed for this place) My family was super excited to try paella for the first time in Spain, and we heard that many people raved about it at Can Solé. Little did we know that the staff there HATE English speakers/Americans. Worst service and food yet in Spain! Paella tasted like old seafood and other dishes were just awful. Not sure why people love their food so much. We also waited almost an hour after they cleaned our tables to pay the bill after we asked them multiple times. They avoided us at all costs. Eventually some of our table left early because the wait was ridiculous.

Paella was bland and seafood was not fresh (had noticeably "fishy" taste). Steak was grey and had no flavor either. Overpriced as well. We had to wait over 30 minutes just for the check after we told them we were done and they had taken our plates (and then had to ask for the check again and still waited another 10 minutes). They weren't openly rude to our faces but actively ignored us. We got the impression that they did not care much for foreigners. One of the worst experiences we have ever had at a restaurant, anywhere.

Basically the staff in this restaurant are EXTREMELY RUDE! I am a non-alcoholic person and can't eat much, therefore, I only went for a squid paella and coke. When I finished the order, they were staring at me and my friend.

I am paying customer and deserve respect. They should not assume all customers to drink alcohol and order loads of foods.

Last but not least, I discovered that when people can speak fluent Spanish, staff treat and serve them better. However, if people use English to communicate with them, they show their attitude like 'I don't care! ' to us.

VERY DISAPPOINTED AND DONT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!

This is the first restaurant I visited in Barcelona and I was astonished. The food is exceptionally tasty as I ordered cuttlefish and highly recommend it!

Disappointing experience. Vlad was an unfortunate server - not very kind. Paella was overpriced and bland. Much better local spots.

Average paella, tastes good, but pricy and light on the sea food. The waiter was grumpy - a smile wouldn't hurt. Should book a table in advance.

Can Sole is a highend restaurant with a well deserved excellent reputation. The paella is an experience that is worth every penny. The other foods they offer are great as well. Their service is prefect and the restaurant has good decor. This place is highly recommended.

Initially, the waiters looked very condescending to me and my partner, as if to say we weren't worth the effort to be served (especially Vladimir). I asked the price of a coke (using English) and be disappeared. Had to ask to different wait for the price of juice - since we don't really drink alcohol. Again I was given the eyes-rolling-back look and he disappeared for a few minutes. Finally told it costs somewhere between 3.50-4.00 Euros (? Why is there not a fixed price? Is a simple question. Duh).

Later, as we waited for food it and observed other tables it became clear that on table that spoke English, you are treated like trouble and hardly worth the effort. However, if you speak their language then you are treated with respect, and you get plenty of smiles too. No wonder they turned us away the night before and told us we have to book.

To be fair, the paella there is good, but that does not justify the price; especially not with that level of service. In fact, my partner said she tasted little difference compared to the paella marisco this morning at LA BOQUERIA, costing 10 Euros per portion.

INSTEAD, we'd suggest the nearby Can Ros as it's much more TOURIST FRIENDLY and equally delicious.

Was told about this place by a friend who hasn't been there for 15 years. It was still as good as he remembered. The tapas are really too big for 2 to share and with a paella as well we were struggling to finish. But the ingredients and the taste were amazing. Very helpful staff and a big selection of local wine.

Was the best paella I've ever had and the service was so great and friendly, would recommend to everyone and anyone. Is a must go to in Barcelona.

Not cheap but very good quality traditional Catalan seafood and mar i muntanya. Apart from the arròs caldós, which was very good, we also had xipirons amb rossinyols (baby squid with chantarelle mushrooms), razor clams and calamars farcits (cuttlefish stuffed with pork). Everything was delicious. It's difficult to find many of this type of dish in the more touristy restaurants which just do paella, paella, paella. €200 for four people isn't cheap but for the quality (and given that it included a great bottle of wine and a few other drinks), I'd say it's fair. Recommended.
