There came a time when it became obvious that I had no choice but to replace all of the teeth in my lower jaw. I received a quote from my dentist in the United States that I could not possibly afford for taking out the teeth and replacing them with titanium implants and a zirconia bridge. I began researching and looking around the world for places known for high-quality, lower-cost dental work — Thailand, The Philippines, India, Eastern Europe, Mexico, Costa Rica. I also came to the decision that I did not want titanium in my mouth anyway due to the possibility of corrosion and piezo-electric effects that could compromise my immune system. For my health, I chose zirconia implants. I found that there are very few places that would use zirconia implants and bridge and that zirconia implants are far more expensive than titanium.

Then I found the clinic of the dentists (two brothers) who originated the Ceraroot System. Dr. Josep Oliva in Barcelona, offered me a very good price to do what I wanted, zirconia implants and bridge, and also replaced the all of the top crowns and bridges with a good resin (long-term temporaries) until I could afford zirconia replacements. The result is that I have no more metal or infection in my mouth and my teeth look beautiful. Other dentists who have seen them say they are gorgeous. The original dentist I saw even took photos to show her laboratory. It turned out later that her office in New York had actually trained with Dr. Josep to use his system.

The office was beautiful and spotless, quiet and harmonious, not chaotic with dental tourists waiting hours to be seen as I’d read about in some other places. The equipment is state of the art. The staff is kind, accomplished, and fastidious, and Dr. Josep was confident, patient and clear about what he felt was best for me. He spent a long time explaining what he would do and what I had to do to maintain what was done. He was the only dentist who said he would work with what I could handle financially.

The work was not easy for me, beginning with a 5-hour surgery, waiting until I healed and the implants were fully embedded and then fitting the bridge on the bottom and all of the crowns and bridge on the top. I ended up staying in Spain for three months for the four visits. Even with the superior materials, covering all of my top teeth with good temporaries, and traveling to and living in Europe, I paid far less than the original quote I’d received in the U. S!

Then to my dismay, a year later, I had a problem with the bridge. I was terrified because I had not been given a guarantee, nor does this clinic pay the way for patients to return if there are problems as one of the others I had approached does. Yet Dr. Josep repaired it at no cost in one week, and made me a beautiful night guard too to protect the resin temporaries as well. I like him and his staff so much I was actually glad to return!

I am grateful to have this opportunity to write this review for Dr Oliva and his team. I hope that this will open doors for others to benefit from the extraordinary expertise that they have to offer. I know, from experience how important it is to have work done right the first time.
Sometimes I am considered a difficult patient because I have suffered alot of trauma in my life both dental and violent trauma that makes trust an issue. Despite this I have experienced Dr Oliva to be wonderful in both his interactions with me and the quality of the work that he is doing for me (which is extensive). He is always confident, positive and encouraging. I have always felt safe and confident that he will find a solution to whatever problem arises. Moreover the cost to me is about half of what it would cost me in the states - which has made it possible for me to save my teeth (Which all had to be crowned). And restore my bite.
When my dentist here in Massachusetts found out that Dr Oliva is doing my implant and other restorative work he exclaimed, "You are seeing Dr Oliva! " I was surprised and said, "Do you know him! " He said, "Of course! Everyone knows him - he is famous! " (This dentist only recently moved his practice to the US from India!).
Dr Oliva deserves this reputation as his work is clearly founded in a desire to improve lives through excellent solutions to dental problems.

Fui para la extracción de 4 amalgamas y posterior empaste con un material libre de metal y bisfenol perjudicial. El trato fue exquisito por parte de todo el personal. Te informan en todo momento del protocolo a seguir, medidas de seguridad, etc. Las instalaciones son cómodas y agradables y el trabajo muy bien hecho. Grandes profesionales. Me lo pudieron hacer todo el mismo día para que no tuviera que volver a desplazarme. Sin duda, lo recomiendo!
