Hibernian. Secondhand English Bookshop, Barcelona

While I was searching a store for books in English, this one is recommended to me. When you enter inside, you can get the amazing smell of old books and you could find any kind of book in English. Also the ambiance from outside seems so nice!

If you are looking for second hand english books in Barcelona, this is your best option, unfortunately the owners (a couple) are rude, they always look like they are alerted to fight, when they're not there, they hire random people who doesn't speak any english and can't help with anything.

The best bookshop for English books.

There are literally thousands of books, from old to new (with the majority being old or classics). I dare say that it's the best bookshop in Barcelona when it comes to English books.

The majority of books are classified by genre and there are also a few that are classified by their age. There are multiple genres to browse, including crime, thriller, historical, fantasy, horror, and science fiction.

The only downside is that the majority of books are somewhat unknown. There are only a few well-known authors and/or books but that's mostly related to the books that people bring in. I assume not that many people want to part with their favorite books.

Given the scarcity of English books in Barcelona, this place is a definite "must-go" for everyone looking for English books.

Love this place, endless second hand books that could easily take an entire afternoon browsing. Plus a small but excellent collection of new books at ridiculously reasonable prices. If you go to the big book stores in town you'll easily pay 15-20 euros on a decent book in english, but in hibernian you can get many of the same books for 6 or 7 euros. You probably won't find what your looking for in terms of newly published books, but you'll definitely find 5 or 6 other books to buy. The owners have a complete knowledge of their catalogue. 5 stars doesn't do this place justice

Used and new books in English. Very good prices. Helpful and welcoming owners. Every time I go there I find some interesting book to buy.

Really nice collection of books! Very diverse ranging from classics, antiques, YA fiction, thrillers, you name the genre and they probably have it! Most of the books are very cheap to so that’s definitely a plus! A bit hard to find though but that’s not a problem since it’s definitely worth it.

In my experience when I came, my mistake was looking for newer books. Because in most cases they’re not gonna have them so it’s better to look for books from maybe 2016 and back. If you’re lucky they might have what you’re looking for!

Surprisingly large supply of secondhand (and new) books in not only English, but als Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, French, German, Italian and whatnot.

Really good English book store with a huge collection of first and second hand books from various genres. Owned by a nice and helpful couple. Decent prices suitable for every pocket. Recommended.

A hidden gem in the depths of Gràcia. I’ve always found every book I needed, and the prices are very nice too. It’s a shame, however, that the aura of the place is so “grey”. But I love it, quite frankly.

Great stop for English books in a city full of Catalan/Spanish language books! Found 2 great business reads for around 4 euros each. They have a small and amazing collection of classic 1st edition books (adult and childrens). Wonderful old and new books. Stop by and check this bookstore out. There's something for everyone!

Lovely book store selling English books - as an expat, I found this very handy! The collection of books is fantastic, the service is friendly, and the location is very convenient.

We have been taking our used books to Hibernian for years and buying new and second-hand books with the credit. They are very fair and we rarely leave without finding a book that takes our fancy. Very recommendable.

I love traveling and wherever I go I always look for cozy bookstores. Hibernian has a wide selection of second hand English books as well as some in German and other languages. It’s so fun to even just browse through books in different sections.

I love finding art/photography inspiration here. Everything is affordable but in all honesty I haven't actually bought anything from them yet. They seem nice enough and have some new books as well!
