Hip Karma Hostel, Barcelona

¡Me encantó mi estancia en Hip Karma! Las habitaciones son cómodas y limpias. El personal es amable y servicial. La ubicación es agradable y céntrica, a poca distancia de todos los sitios.

No había edredón ni sábanas (el colchón también tenía manchas). Era muy ruidoso y tenía muchas picaduras de pulgas al día siguiente. También tuve que pagar 6 euros para poder guardar mi equipaje bajo llave.

Hemos quedado en una habitación de 3, de verdad ha sido una buena estancia. Sin duda repetiré.

Bueno por el precio! Buenas camas con cortinas y cajón grande con cerradura, buenos baños y cocina.ubicación perfecta Puede dejar su equipaje con ellos después de la salida de forma gratuita, pero debe pagar la ropa de cama, la toalla y los candados (pero puede traer sus propias cosas). Hay un Lidl a 5 minutos. Te cobran un impuesto si pagas con tarjeta. No sirven el desayuno y la habitación puede calentarse demasiado.

Perfecto ejemplo del abuso al que ya estamos acostumbrados tanto con alojamiento como vivienda en Barcelona. Este es el típico hostal para mochileros, sin embargo el precio a pagar se asemeja al de un hostal con cuartos privados. Te cobran comisión si el pago con tarjeta es por debajo de 125 euros. Te cobran el uso de sábanas y toallas. Cuando llegas la cama no está hecha, claro. Primero pagas la ropa de cama y después la haces tú. Primera vez en mi vida que doy con un servicio de este tipo. Al salir, al parecer también esperan que tú deshagas la cama y eches las sábanas sucias al cesto de ropa para lavar. Se salva por la localización y amabilidad del personal. También mantienen los baños bastante limpios, pero no se entiende el rating que tienen teniendo en cuenta el precio y falta de servicios básicos. Yo no pago alojamiento para pretender tener esclavos domésticos, pero preparar la cama para huéspedes a la llegada es un básico.

Es realmente bueno en esta categoría de alojamiento. Está en una ubicación céntrica, varias estaciones de metro están a poca distancia a pie. Pero uno de los centros de transporte, Pl. Catalunnya, también tiene solo 650.

Todo excelente por parte de Hip Karma Hostel. Lo único malo es que unos pasajeros se llevaron nuestra comida cerrada para la cena. El Hostel se hizo cargo. Excelente y responsable actitud. Super recomendable. Agradables las habitaciones y espacios comunes. Estuvimos en una privada con su baño. El equipamiento excelente. Ubicación genial. No se lo pierdan.

Todo perfecto el personal muy agradable, las habitaciones muy limpias y espaciosas. La cocina bien equipada

This place was great for us, clean and on a great location, no traffic noise where you can't sleep, but exactly the opposite. Would recommend:)

Posizione molto comoda sia per vicinanza alla metro, sia per girare a piedi nei quartieri gotici e sulla rambla. Camera abbastanza spaziosa e confortevole, ottima l'insonorizzazione, ok il bagno con doccia grande e arredamento piuttosto moderno. La cucina è in comune, ma abbiamo trovato una situazione molto tranquilla e non c'era mai nessuno. Rapporto qualità/prezzo eccezionale.

Be ready to be charged extra for things like bed sheets and locks! The other thing to note is the hostel seems to charge more for the city tax, this is disgusting and you should feel ashamed. Have a look on the internet beforehand for the correct city tax charge and question the charge when you check in!

My 8 bed dorm had one large window which was on a busy road so couldn't really have it open, this meant the room was uncomfortable. Small kitchen and did not really have a common room to relax in during the evenings.

During my stay the hostel had many older guests (40+) so when I stayed there wasn't really much of a good hostel vibe, instead a strange one. I'm not saying its always like this but be warned it could be the same.

The only positive has to be the location and a nice helpful man working on the reception. Can't remember his name but he seemed to sound like he was from the US or Canada.

The location is great! Super close to public transport and it’s in a really lovely bustling but pretty quiet neighbourhood. I really liked the cleanliness of the place as the dorms, bathrooms and kitchen are cleaned regularly and very well. I also really like how they regulate the airconditioning so the temperature was always perfect.

The only minuses about this hostel were that there is not really a nice common space to chill. The kitchen is quite small and there is no other area where you can just go and relax, so you end up having to go and lay in your bed. So if you are looking for a hostel where you can just sleep and not socialise or spend as much time it’s perfect! I also thought that there was not really a nice/social hostel vibe among the travellers there, and unfortunately i had to deal with a few solo male traveller that were quite insisting with making conversation etc.and made me feel a bit uncomfortable, but maybe i was just unlucky:)

Plus: room is clean, AC is ok during the hot season, kitchen is well equiped.
Minus: high price. There is only one toilet for the whole hostel. Sometimes I had to stand in a line and wait quite long to get in! My room is not sound proof, I could hear everything from the reception, and vehicles from the street, could not sleep at all. I had to buy ear plugs otherwise I would stay up the whole night. Not reccommended for noise-sensitive people.

I would not recommend this place. I developed a severe case of athlete’s foot within the first two days here. All the showers drained slowly, so even though I wore sandals, my feet were submerged in the water. The women’s shower/toilets room constantly felt like a hot humid sauna since it never seemed to fully air out. I talked to another guest with the same complaint. I checked out early and explained my situation to see about even a partial refund on remaining nights. I was told they clean/disinfect and it was “impossible” that I got it from there - that I probably got it from the beach or somewhere else. I will give them credit that I saw the cleaning lady there, but it doesn’t stay disinfected by the time multiple other people have taken showers and soaked their feet in there before I get in. It is true that I can’t ever know with certainty this is where I got it, but I’ve been exercising standard precautions and hygiene during my travels and didn’t visit the beach, submerge my feet elsewhere, etc. Given the conditions, I found management to be callous to completely rule out the possibility and go the “too bad so sad” route. Also, it was irresponsible for them to write me off since I was absolutely a risk of infecting other people. I will say though all the receptionists were friendly and nice, which is why I’m giving two stars instead of one.

I stayed in this hostel with my group of friends, there were 8 of us. I booked on Airbnb.
Let's start from the beginning:
Once the reservation was made, the host immediately contacted us and answered all our questions with kindness.
The first problem arose when we arrived at the hostel, as specified in the announcement we would have had to pay the required amount for the city tax, but we were not allowed to pay by credit card. This was not communicated, we did not have much cash and above all it was our right to pay as we preferred, in any case we paid as requested by the reception and we went on.
We are then shown our room, at first nothing strange, except that it was smaller than the one shown in the photos and above all without the terrace (also clearly shown in the photo and in the description of the ad). We immediately went to ask for explanations and we were told that in reality this was another room and that although we were right they could not move us because the room was already occupied (we had booked months before). So this was a real rip-off, since we had paid a sum that also took this aspect into consideration.
We must also take into account that sheets and towels are not included in the price, which seems to us really absurd, also because upon our arrival they were pulled out of the drawers under the bed. Worst of all, they were mostly dirty and stained.
In the bathrooms, however, the sliding doors of the showers were all broken. A very unpleasant episode happened to me one night, when I opened the toilet door a huge cockroach popped up from under the toilet, it's no exaggeration when I say it was really one of the biggest I've ever had to deal with.
Another thing that left us really disappointed was the kitchen, the specific announcement that it is "fully equipped", when in fact there were no paper napkins, there were less than a dozen glasses and a total of 6 forks, this should have been enough for around 25 guests.
I give 2 stars because the staff was always friendly and helpful, the rooms were cleaned, and the place where the hostel was located was just a few minutes from the center.
Overall my advice is to avoid staying here, at this price you will find many others in Barcelona, ​​be careful not to be fooled by the photos.
