Holmes Place, Barcelona

I've been a member of this gym for 9 years but I'm leaving as the quality of the staff, space and equipment have declined over time. It was only due to some misguided sense of loyalty that I stayed even as the best trainers eventually left, even as the equipment got older and older, and even as pandemic restrictions and changes occurred (during which I even participated in their plan de apoyo).

However, an incident a month ago where a receptionist, the assistant club manager and another staff member refused to let me enter due to a "deuda" alert in the system made me look at this place differently. Even after I repeatedly explained (a) that I had paid the month's membership fees (b) that the only debt outstanding involved a future personal-training session, (c) that I had unused personal-training session credits (six, in fact), they still would not let me in. These three people were ganging up on me and asking me to leave in full view and within earshot of other gym members at reception. Later on, the club manager apologized to me for the "misunderstanding" and for how the incident "made me feel" but there were zero repercussions for the staff members involved and zero changes (I suggested cultural-sensitivity training for their staff, and to my knowledge they have not done this).

After this incident, I went back to the gym but never felt comfortable again. So, today, I asked to cancel my membership at the end of the month and to receive a refund for my remaining 3 unused but fully paid training sessions (worth almost 200). Now, the same assistant club manager who denied my entry is refusing to give me my money back and is forcing me to go back to the gym I am no longer comfortable in to use the sessions instead. Clearly, some people cannot become more sensitive overnight, and it’s better that I find a nicer place to train.

PS. The people who clean and maintain the gym have been consistently kind and friendly to me throughout.

Very friendly staff. Went there with Gympass. Towel is provided which is a plus. Requires a padlo. Well assorted machines and free weights. Nice spacious steam room and sauna. Good swimmimg pool (bring your swimming cap).

Me gusta mucho el gym, pero el chico que estaba ayer en recepción con barba y gafas, estaría bien que cambiase la actitud dependiente de a quien está atendiendo. Tanto a la entrada como a la salida tuvo un par actitudes que no las entendí. No vale para estar en la recepción.

Me encanta el gimnasio en general, pero sobretodo la clase de Hipopresivos con Rita Cafiero! Me gustaría que abrieran mas clases, ya que solo hay 2 por semana y solo puedo ir a una ; (

Gym super chulo y de alto standing. Tienes todo tipo de comodidades, servicios y el personal es super amable. Lo recomiendo 100%

Las clases de bodypum son geniales! Y Rita que es quien se encarga de darnos las clases a las 14: 30 es fantástica. Nos anima mientas hacemos los ejercicios para motivarnos.

Disappointed
I wanted to have a trial session. So I called the gym two days before to understand how it worked. I was told they didn't need my details and I didn't have to book either. "Just come at any time to try it". No mentioning of any fee or follow up email with the details.
I planned the visit before work to have a quick session assuming it was a free welcome session. I came and the receptionist explained I had to have an invitation to justify a free welcome session. I didn't have one so I had to pay 15€ for 45' session as I had limited time before work. The gym is nice, the swimming pool and spa area are relaxing and clean. The receptionist and the operator inside the gym are friendly. When changing I found a cockroach below the changing rooms bench so I told the receptionist when leaving and she only said she was going to tell the cleaning service. We spoke to the sales representative about our expectations not being met and he never apologized. He just listened to what happened and said this how it worked.
Long story short: when paying a premium price I would expect at least to have my expectations managed and my bad experience treated with consideration (the insect is unacceptable for the standards of this gym).

El gym es lo mejor que vi en barcelona, las maquinas son nuevas y todo el lugar es super limpio. Lo q mas quiero destacar es la atencion de los chicos de recepción, no recuerdo sus nombres pero tanto los de la mañana como los de la noche fueron super amables y me solucionaron un problema al instante. Si tengo que decir algo malo, es que tuve q viajar de barcelona y no pude ir mas dias, pero por esa experiencia elegiria siempre esa cadena de gym en otras ciudades de españa que me faltan por visitar.

Me gustaría que hicieran más clases semanales de hipopresivos con la profesora Rita ya que nos gusta mucho esa clase con ella.

Gimnasio espectacular con muchos servicios. El precio es más elevado pero pero lo merece. El personal es muy amable y profesional. Lo recomiendo seguro!

Place de Balmes en teoria es el club de más "alto standing" de la cadena. Recientente han hecho cambios de máquinas y distribución que ha resultado ser un desastre. El cambio de máquinas no ha representado un incremento en la capacidad para los ejercicios más demandados y la nueva distribución deja espacios enormes vacios sin ningún tipo de funcionalidad mientras en otros espacios hay maquinas sin la debida distancia de seguridad. Adicionalmente, el entrenador de la sala tiene tantos espaciosa cargo (sala de maquina, sala de usos multiples y área de la piscina) que no les permite brindar un buen servicio como el que prometen al inscribirte al gimnasio. Estos comentarios ya los he formalizado con los responsables directos y no se ha tomado ni UNA sola accción a pesar que algunas cosas son facilmente solucionables e importantes por temas de seguridad de los que entrenamos allí.

He estado varios años en este gimnasio, y es una maravilla! Tanto los profesores, como la variedad de clases que tienen, la atención, muy muy recomendable! Yo estoy muy contenta, sin duda para mi es un 10!

Interesting experience, I tried to sign up today. A complete fail. They told me I have wait to 9, but they started the process anyway. Spend more than 15 min, to fill some papers. Then they told me that I can enter the gym and I can finalize the process afterwards.
When I went to reception, I wanted to pay by card and they told me that I have to give my bank account. Why? I wanted to go just a few months. Then they told me that me minimum membership is for 3 months. It was no written anywhere. She wanted to include that after I already sign the contract (not quite legal I must say). Then I refuse as I not planing to go that long. After that the receptionist wanted to charge me 25€ for 1 day, without even telling me upfront.
First day, a complete fail and this is another example of a gym that wanted to be posh and does not cover even the minimum. Quite disappointed now looking for another gym.

La alegria del gym es su monitor de gap, zumba y aquagym Damian Espinosa, un profesor que consigue que las clases sean muy divertidas y completas, transmitiendo siempre su energia y buen humor.

My favourite gym in Barcelona. It has everything you need: machines, functional training, cardio, pool and sauna. Clean facilities. Friendly staff. I think they improved in terms of gym culture. Keep up the good work!

Está perdiendo calidad en varios aspectos. El monitor me echo de la piscina arrastrándome con la colchera para que usara la piscina unas Instagramers. Fue muy desagradable y muy poco tacto por parte de personal, así no se trata a los usuarios.

Unique. Expensive but worth it. Holmes Place is the definition of premium. Locker rooms are huge and always clean. Training spaces are well organised and everything works as expected. Swimming pool and jacuzzi are perfect as well.

El gym es perfecto si necesitas ocupar múltiples áreas y clases. Excelente el area de coworking, muy amplio y con una buena cafetería. El único problema al principio es el espacio de peso libre que es pequeño, pero con el tiempo te acostumbras.
