50 Ausgezeichnete Tapas!
I’ve lived in BCN for over a year and cannot believe I just discovered this place! Amazing tapas, great wine and a lovely atmosphere. Great spot for a date! A must visit!
Good place. A bit pricier than other places. Expect to pay about 40 per head with wine. Good selection. Friendly staff. Very busy at dinner. Will come back.
From institution to tourist trap?
There was a time, over the past 10 years or so, when Paco Meralgo was a real Barcelona institution. Great food, especially the seafood, in a lively atmosphere. We would recommend it to friends as one of the places to go and enjoy what Barcelona can serve up! However, our past couple of visits have been disappointing. The quality is still there, generally - but the portion sizes have become not just bad value, but quite frankly, ridiculous! If I order chiperones, I expect for than a dozen! We had similar issues with the other seafood dishes - a dozen of each! No longer does Paco Meralgo offer good value. It now serves up poor value food. And, dare I say it, there is better similar food on offer elsewhere too So sad to see an institution, turn into a tourist trap there to make as much money as possible.but that is what has happened! Shame!

Excelente! Menú variadísimo, comida exquisita.
Si no le gustan los lugares muy llenos o ruidosos, no vaya, pero se perderá tremenda experiencia gastronómica.
Best meal we had in over week in Barcelona. Everything was stellar, especially the Shishito peppers, Beef in garlic, Chorizo and the meat board. The passion fruit mousse was the best dessert we've ever had and we live in Brooklyn. Absolutely fantastic dinner. Thank you Paco Meralgo, we're coming back to Barcelona just for the meal alone.
Uneven quality of mainly classical small plates displayed gracelessly in a busy environment, except for the upstairs room. Rich wine list though extremely overpriced. Fairly attentive service. Txangurro de bou de mar and escopinyes
I chose this restaurant based on the ratings from this site. Mistake! The food was bland and expensive, servers were rude, and the air conditioner dripped on my head all night. All in all, it was a terrible experience. I had the veal carpaccio, the baked clams, the beef chunks with pepper sauce, mozzarella flower and the octopus with candy onions. All were revolting. The veal was flavourless, baked clams were also boring, the beef chunks were the wrong order and I ended up with the pepper version instead of the garlic. There was so much pepper on it you couldn’t taste the beef at all. The octopus was overdone and overpowered by the mass amount of caramelized onions. The only decent thing I ate was basically a mozzarella stick with a flower in it, which you couldn’t taste anyways. Avoid this overpriced restaurant. Go to a hole in the wall instead where locals frequent.
Excellent tapas at a reasonable price. We waited nearly 30 minutes for a table, so next time we will make reservations. Service was very professional and attentive. Best patatas bravas I've ever had. Cured sausages, croquettes and hot chocolate desert were also especially memorable.
