Sharma Climbing Barcelona opiniones
75Muy buena experiencia. Clase particular con mihijo de 8 años. (2 horas completas).
Hoy para mi sorpresa, he ido a entrenar y parecía otro roco!
Used to be a nice gym.
However, it started with a leaking roof, which basically means it is raining inside as much as outside on bad days. On some spots in the old area the mats are on some spots so soft, it feels like there are holes in them, which makes the landing here and there not the nicest.
On the Autobelay Area, they definitely miss some more challenging routes. I would guess they are French 5+ max.
Over the last weeks the management has changed and a lot of the friendly stuff is gone.
Now the gym is back to the liquid chalk only nonsense, may they need to sell more of the overpriced 17€ Petzl Liquid chalk.
The Moonboard has some of the dirtiest holds if seen in a long time and is overall in a bad condition. Holds are missing on it, some others just spin and some are polished to a nice shine.
The yoga mats in the training area also have seen better times imo.
Overall, it starts to feel more like a place meant to milk as much money from you as possible instead of a place which is meant to provide good training conditions.
This place is amazing, we have booked the introduction class and we have been extremely pleased. The instructor is very attentive and caring. The borrowed materials are pretty new and confortable. The gym part is very specific to climb training and very appealing too. The place is pleasantly fresh, as there is indeed air conditioning.
Overall it feels a very friendly environment and very professional. We surely will go back again. Last mention is for the cafè, that has quite an interesting selection of south american foods.
Malauradament, no tornarem.
Staff 10/10.
It was our first time here, we don’t speak
Spanish, and the staff were super accommodating.
They explained where everything is and the gym layout. And wished us a good climb.
Good range of climbs but definitely leans towards a heavy proportion of the routes being overhung. Not a massive amount of slab. (Depends if that’s a good or bad thing for you)
Auto belay all looked to be V1. Not much value there.
Very well stocked gym area.
Great cafe and good price beers for post-climb celebrations.
I would echo a lot of the other reviewers that the routes are not very creative and the difficulty is mostly physical fitness, not mental/problem solving. I can basically flash everything within my physical fitness level, and the routes beyond my physical fitness level are not worth projecting because I'm just not strong enough. Seems more like a gym where people who do outdoor rock climbing come to train, rather than a place where you would go to work on comp-style bouldering problems. That said, staff is really friendly, the bar is great, and it's a nice, chill place, especially during the day. I'll keep going. Hope they can set more interesting comp-style routes some day, because it's a very nice space!
A great bouldering gym, with a lot of different routes from easy to hard in a lot of different styles from slab to overhang and slopers to crimps. Also a lot of dynamic moves. Rental shoes are quite good. New routes set every week, so you might not have access to all areas, but there’s still more than enough. When it’s hot the two huge fans makes it liveable. The staff is super friendly and eager to help.
Friendly staff and fellow climbers, interesting problems, pretty clean. The best climbing gym I have tried in bcn in terms of interesting bouldering problems!
Overall, this place could be a great boulder gym if there were better quality routes, I expected more from the Sharma brand.
I visited the gym while on vacation in Barcelona. As it was during the New Years celebration period, I searched for information on their website and Facebook about opening hours. I didn't find any, so wrote to them on Facebook, never received an answer.
Also I didn't bring magnesia with myself. Upon entering they advised that only liquid chalk can be used in the bouldering area. I wanted to rent chalk, but they only had it for sale for 18 euros (which I can't even bring home on the airplane.). Since there were many tourists, I believe rent chalk should be available.
The gym is quite big with many routes, however, the routes are very straight forward, don't require any thinking and in my opinion too easy phisically. I don't know if this was only a one-off thing or it's usually like this, but it was very disappointing, the setup was not for climbers, but rather for beginners and non-climbing sports people (as most of the people present were of these groups).
The upper floor is a great training area with Kilterboard, Moonboard and a 45 degree spray wall with a campus board in the center and a well-equipped gym area on the side.
With good routes this gym could be a great place as it has all the necessary facilities and equipment.
The fact that this place has 4.4 stars is a joke. 1. It's expensive: 17,50€ for a day with shoes? 2. The routes suck. There is nothing technical about the routes. As long as you can grip the climbing holds, you can make it to the top. How boring is that? 3. The place is small. Realistically, If I paid 8€ with shoes I would have thought, it was worth it's money but this is as close as a scam as you can get just cause it's in a touristy city. What a joke.
