The Loft Hostel Barcelona

RIP OFF MERCHANTS - AVOID
This hostel thinks its perfectly ok to charge you 5 euro for being 'late'. If you arrive after 10pm they expect you to pay up which I found ludicrous. Its a hostel, people are travelling from all over the country and with delays you really have no idea when you'll get there half the time, there's someone at the desk 24/7 like ALL hostels have but this one wants you to pay for their guy to press a button to allow you to enter after 10pm.just ridiculous.all they care about is sucking more coins out of your pocket AVOID! I've been to loads of hostels.this is the only one I've seen that have the audacity to charge you after 10pm to get in after you're wrecked travelling all day.go to a hostel that doesn't want to rip you off!

The Loft Hostel in Barcelona exceeded my expectations. It was in a great location and had amazing staff. There is a wonderful vermouth bar outside their doors where it allowed us to end our long days touring Barca with top of line drinks. The Loft was in a great location and was in a safe area. They have an Argentine food shop two doors from them that is authentic. You have to try their pastafrola! Just like mom made.el Loft Hostel en Barcelona superó mis expectativas. Fuera de sus puertas hay una maravillosa vermuteria que nos permitió terminar nuestras largas jornadas recorriendo el Barça con unas copas de primera. The Loft estaba en una excelente ubicación y estaba en un área segura. Tienen una tienda de comida Argentina a dos puertas de ellos que es auténtica. Tienes que probar su pastafrola! Como hizo mamá.

Great place. Super friendly staff. The rooms and common areas are clean.

The hostel also offers walking tours and pub crawls. Walking tour is absolutely amazing. My tour guide Brad from Gilligan's Tours was great. He told us so many stories about Barcelona and history behind different parts of the city.

Great place! It has a nice location and close connection with bus and metro, the staff were very nice and helpful. The showers and bathrooms are clean.

The location was fantastic, very easy to get around if you use the Metro, the staff were absolutely fantastic, especially Greta, very very helpful when it comes to local knowledge like good restaurants to eat at, La Rita I would recommend, for the price it is excellent, I would recommend

El ambiente y la onda del lugar estan buenas y la ubicación es inmejorable. Sin embargo, las habitaciones y camas son pequeñas, las duchas casi siempre sin agua caliente, hay pocos toilettes y sin cerradura.

We have booked "The Loft Hostel" for three people for 5 nights and thought that the stay will be positive from the reviews. Let's get to the positive first:

Location (4/5) : The location is really very central and you can reach the subway / bus in a few minutes. There are enough stores and resturants in the immediate vicinity. Also, for young people there are a few clubs and bars in the immediate vicinity. Despite the central location, the street is quite quiet at night.

Then the negative:

Hostel (1/5) : The entrance area is kept quite nice and makes a good impression. However, this changes when you enter the kitchen or go to the second floor to the rooms where we stayed. The entrance door sometimes worked, sometimes not. Apparently there are no quiet times in the hostel, because at any time (even at night) people come loudly into the room and make noise, turn on lights or leave on. It was really hard to find some rest here. The toilets always lacked toilet paper. The receptionist wasn't able to speak English and it was really hard to communicate. In addition, it seems that everyone is allowed to stay at the hostel. We were unlucky that after three days a new roommate moved in and made us leave the hostel early at night to look for another one. If the reception staff had used their noses, they would at least had recommended him to use the shower before entering the room. Nothing more needs to be said about this.

Cleanliness (1/5) : The cleanliness in the hostel leaves a lot to be desired. One star is given for the beds as at least they were clean on arrival, however the rooms are very dirty. The floor is not clean and on the bunk bed frame on top of it were 5cm thick dust, garbage and old clothes from former guests. The kitchen was always dirty with food scraps everywhere. The tables were sticky and dirty. The floor in the kitchen was also not clean. In the men's bathroom, there is really extensive mold on the ceiling and walls. The toilet has actually always been dirty and there was toilet paper lying around on the floor.

Price / performance (1/5) : We have found a cheaper hostel with private room after the three days, private bathroom and breakfast included. The rooms were very clean in comparison.

All in all, I would not recommend the hostel.

If you are looking for a place where you can just rest, this is NOT the place for you. I have traveled a lot and I've visited a lot of hostels but I have never had a more unpleasant experience like in Loft Barcelona.
No noise policy (people shouting and listening to music in the common area until 3am), not the best hygiene, staff that can barely speak English.
It is a big NO for me, of course IF you would like to rest in a hostel when traveling.

Hermosa la hostal, todo ordenado y limpio a diario, espacios comunes muy lindos, y la gente muy amable y dispuesta a ayudar.

Buen precio y buena ubicación, muy muy recomendable, la recepcionista Erika fue muy simpática, volveré a repetir sin duda.

The worst Hostel ever, dirty, stinking and the guys at the reception asked for 10 EUR cash for late check-in and were unable to give us a receipt since they are keeping the money for themselves. I had to wait for one hour in order to have my receipt at last. Horrible. Zero!

Excelente location, good price, very nice enviroment. The recepcionists are kind. Bathroom, rooms, bed and kitchen are clean. The locker is really big. Breakfast was delicious, it is not served in the hostel but in a bakery almost in the same street, what is a nice idea because it increase your experience in the city. As negative point, I would say the charge of towels and the charge for late checkin (5 euros per person if after 20hr and 10 euros per person if after 00h)

Des voleurs les gens dans la réception sont des escrocs je suis arrivé à 20: 00 H ils mon dit tu dois payer 10€ car tu es arrivé en retard j'ai demandé un reçu ils mon dit non, l, hostel est trop salle et la cuisine aussi vraiment je vous déconseille de ne pas réserver chez eux

Spacious rooms at a very affordable price, however the place was dirty. Everytime you flush the toilet water drips on you from above. For a slightly higher price there are far better options in Barcelona.
