30This is hands down our favourite restaurant in Madrid. It is consistently good (we go a couple of times a month) and the service is fantastic. There are very few restaurants I feel in Madrid that have such wonderfully friendly waitors and waitresses. We always bring family here when they visit. Our go to selection of tapas to share between 2 is: risotto de gambones, mousakka, 1/2 ropa vieja, 1/2 gambas al ajilo and 1/2 salmon brochetas. The bread that they give you is so fresh too!
The greatest food experience in Madrid I had so far! Nice waiters, and the food is delicious! If you already had a tapas experience, this is the next step, a fusion of world cuisine with a Spanish Madrileno touch!
Excelente bar restaurante. Camareros muy profesionales. Me gustó mucho la ropa vieja y las croquetas de boletus. Volveré.
Great ambience and friendly staff, and tasty food that isn't too pricey. The bread is free too, and they make them fresh on site!
The beef:
The potatoes that came with this were amazing, loved them. The beef was done well, with a nice creamy sauce that complemented both the potatoes and the beef.
The salmon:
Very flavourful, large portions overall a great choice.
The sangria:
Served in a huge glass and the alcohol taste is masked very well, I couldn't taste any alcohol. I enjoyed it but I did find it a little sweet, it tasted a lot like a fruit juice
The bread:
Best bread I have had in a restaurant, very nice and soft (including the crust) and freshly made
My friends and I had a late (for Americans) supper there when we were in Madrid for New Year's. By the time we got there, they were out of many things, but the helpful server identified what was available. And when he erred and we waited for something that never arrived, he suggested something else and they comped it. We had a wonderful meal, a great time visiting with staff, a delightful and reasonably priced wine, and look forward to eating there again. BTW the sister Taberna El Sur is also a great place; we went there our first night in Madrid.
I couldn’t workout why I put on 4kgs in a week in Madrid but then I went back through my photos and realised that I was eating rich and amazing food like this everyday! This restaurant/bar is cool:
1) the barmen are fun and joke with customers as well as one another
2) the sangria was mind blowing - a beautiful creation decorated with fresh fruit and cinnamon
3) the octopus served in a skillet was just unparalleled - that particular octopus was really blessed in its afterlife to be prepared and served in such a heavenly dish
Worst dishes ever in my 14-day trip in Spain. The food is really not delicious at all. The squid salad is actually good. But this is the only dish eatable. All other dishes are just terrible. We only have two people, but the waiter ordered larger dish for us without even asking us. The Sangria is too too too too sweet, the worst sangria on earth with terrible passion fruit like flavor.
The food is actually so terrible, I’ve never tried food like this before.i barely would eat them. Why it would have a 5 star?
Best sangria ever. And the food is also amazing. Lovely staff with amazing skills (bartender) and very client oriented (staff). Definitely the place to go for a lovely afternoon in Madrid
